The Sunbeams

What to do with the Sunbeams.  The age old question.  What should the focus be for 3-year old children?  How much can they really be taught, and what should the curriculum be?  There are many schools of thought, but no real consensus on the matter.  Why all the drama?  Don't overthink it.  They're three!

The basics.  Sit, listen, and pay attention.  Keeping hands to themselves as much as possible.  Understanding the concept of taking turns, and to share and play properly.  Familiarity with words such as please and thank-you.  Being given small responsibilities.  And so it goes.

Before long, what begins as a gathering of three-year old bundles of energy becomes a cohesive group of enthusiastic friends.  It's nothing short of amazing.  As an added bonus, it sets a kind of blueprint for life, as common courtesies and manners truly never go out of style.

So while the jury may be out on what the focus of the Sunbeam class should be, for me it's pretty straight forward.  The simplicity of helping three-year-olds become four may not seem like much, but in reality it's the beginning of everything.
