At one point I found myself wondering if they might be better off somehow. Might it be more advantageous being one of the furry little squirrels in our yard right now? They're experiencing none of
this and life goes on as usual. Of course, while it's true that they have
no fears or anxiety, they also lack any ability to reason.
If disease were to come
upon them, there is absolutely nothing they could do. We can, and that's what makes us unique
to other living things. But we can't have it both ways. Fear and stress, along with its accompanying anxiety are not exempt from the equation. They are part of the whole, actually an integral part of
the solution, continually pushing and advancing us to greater things.
2020 has now come and gone, and my uneasiness has shifted to that of a sense of well-being. Looking out my window watching the squirrels happily doing whatever it is that squirrels do, I now see things in a different light. Yes, human beings might, and most Likely will make mistakes as we encounter each crisis along our way. Yet in doing so, we gain insight, better preparing us as we move forward, and so on.
There's a quiet comfort in knowing that Life's journey is ongoing, and that it always will be a perpetual work in process.
